Cattolica of Stilo
The Cattolica of Stilo is a small religious building located adjacent to the village of Stilo, on the slopes of Mount Consolino. The term ‘Cattolica’ probably derives from the Greek ‘Katholikon’, indicating the place of worship of a monastic complex or the centre of cultic reference for the hermits who lived in the same area.
Its expressive richness, belonging to a typically Byzantine architectural tradition, places it rightfully among the most remarkable monuments in Calabria.
